Practicing Pilates is usually thought of as an adult’s method of exercise, but it can be an effective way for kids to keep fit as well. The same benefits apply to kids: build abdominal and body strength, improve self-esteem and flexibility, endurance, and relieve stress while creating a relaxed state of mind. In addition to physical benefits kids will improve concentration and social skills. Through interactive games and exercises, kids can learn basic Pilates Mat exercises and lots more! White Light Pilates (WLP) is now offering a Kids Mat Pilates class every Wednesday at 1:30 pm for kids, ages 6-10 years old. We are also pleased to announce that we will be partnering with Barbara Rinaldo at San Diego Danceworks by teaching Pilates at their Summer Dance Camps. Students in the camps are taught ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, gymnastics for dance, and musical theatre. By introducing Pilates to young dancers, they can become more aware of their alignment, which can protect them against injury.
